Happy Almost Fall! Schools are filled, stores are reducing Halloween merchandise and pumpkin spice is sprinkled everywhere. How can we not be in the mood for fall? I'm chompin' at the bit to get into the fall stash in my basement, all of it purchased very inexpensively. I got to thinking, if price were no object, would I buy anything new? Let's see if any of these beauties will inspire our rooms this fall.

A modern take on bargeboard, this one is loaded with rusty maple leaves and acorns cut out of iron. First popular in 19th century New Orleans, bargeboard was used to fasten gables of a roof to give them strength. Oriinally made from the repurposed wood from flatboats on the Mississippi, most bargeboards are intricately shaped, making them as important aesthetically as they are structurally. The woodsy version from Terrain would make a decorative splash in any room. Terrain, 4" x 10,' $78 with free shipping.

This dried twoleaf nightshade wreath has me puzzled. The twoleaf nightshade is a species native to the Americas and is cultivated as an ornamental due to its bright clusters of yellow fruit. Terrains' website omits any reference that the plant is toxic to both humans and animals. I love the color and the raw edged ribbon but there must be a nontoxic similar look. At Terrain, 4" x 10", $80

I found this adorable pumpkin on Etsy. It's handknit in a cozy sweater style and is only 3" tall. Does that include the wood limb stem? $28.99

I did a double take when I saw these candles. The "Happy Organic Carrot Beesax Tapers" and other vegetables are $36 for a set of two. At Terraine online.

Beautifully preserved fall leaves by treetownpaper on Etsy. You can select the quantity you want - five leaves for $4. 25 leaves for $17 and so on. How fun would it be to have 1,000 leaves ($350)?

I love Garnier Thiebaut tea towels and especially the new "The Pommes De Terre Ocre Jacquard Kitchen Towel." "A rustic simplicity with illustrated potatoes on a colorblocked black and brown background. The woven cotton makes it as functional as it is artistic. Garnier Thiebaut has been weaving the most beautiful cotton damasks in the heart of the Vosges mountains since 1833," according to GT.

22"x31", 100% extra-long staple cotton, made in France, $30.

Have you been to San Francisco's Sue Fisher King in Pacific Heights? Her shop is filled with scrumptious beauties. I'd love this 4-ply cashmere throw in fall leaf. 100% cashmere, handwoven in Nepal. It's 60" x 72" and can't you imagine cuddling in it on a cool fall evening? I could and would if it wasn't $1,950.

Hope you've enjoyed some retail daydreaming and inspiration for your rooms. Tomorrow, I'm headed to the basement. Enjoy your Sunday!
