Every been in a restaurant when it turns "Happy Hour?" You notice the mood instantly changes as everyone is ready for fun. Whenever I'm having a Bad Hair Day, my cure is always a personal Happy Hour. Of course, I'm hopeless addicted to interiors; so for me, this hour is all about decorating. In this series, we'll look at some quick and happy mood changers for our very own Happy Hour. Each should take about an hour - a mere 60 minutes - to perk up our minds and our rooms. Let's get the party started.
Happy Almost 4th of July! I received Kimberly's 4th of July card in the mail yesterday and that promptly got me in the holiday mood. If you want to spend a Happy Hour getting your room(s) ready for the big day, let's take a look at some super quick ideas.

Look through your scarf and jewelry drawers for some red, white+blue. If you come up empty, buy some cotton bandanas at the Dollar Store or Michaels. They make great napkins for the table or easy decorations around your rooms.

If you're like me, you have some unidentified family photos around. Simply draw red, white+blue clothes over the existing. These photos could be tucked in entryway mirrors, propped up on a mantel or scattered on a coffee table.

I imagine this tablescape was spruced up by a stack of red, white+blue books and few flags.

Yesterday, I found these 4"x6 "flags on real sticks" (Amazon, ASIN B0F1N9J12P, a 12 pack for $2.99). I had planned to spread them around my main rooms which are already filled with summer pillows covered with blue&white ticking plus blue hydragenas and ferns in pots. For $3, how could I go wrong?

Twelve flags seemed like a bit too much so I limited them to just these in the sunroom.

And this one in the kitchen. I won the flag playing The Star Spangle Banner on the piano in grade school. Next year, when our country reaches it's 250th birthday, I suppose we'll go all out. Until then, enjoy your Sunday and Happy 4th of July!
PS - If you have a minute, I'd love a comment below. The comment fields ask for your name and email address but that's only so they come to me. Once, it's published, you'll only see your first name - no last or email address. Many thanks! And please see some older posts on red, white+blue down below.
