Happy Hour : Fall Cloches

Every been in a restaurant when it turns "Happy Hour?" You notice the mood instantly changes as everyone is ready for fun. Whenever I'm having a Bad Hair Day, my cure is always a personal Happy Hour. Of course, I'm hopeless addicted to interiors; so for me, this hour is all about decorating. In this series, we'll look at some quick and happy mood changers for our very own Happy Hour. Each should take about an hour - a mere 60 minutes - to perk up our minds and our rooms. Let's get the party started.

Hello! I'm still recooperating from foot surgery so I'm sending this "fan favorite" from 2019 out today. The nice thing about investing in a glass cloche is that they can be used yea-round. I love to see one anywhere in the house. Enjoy your Sunday!

This Happy Hour uses a glass cloche - perfect for small autumn vignette. Little collectables fit under a glass dome and natural objects look even more special. You might have a glass dome in your pantry - a cheese dome, a cake stand cover, a Mason jar, a glass canister turned upside down. If you don't have a base, you can use a book, a plate, a piece of wood or just sit it on a surface. Cloches / bell jars / glass domes are available almost everywhere as you'll see below. And, of course, the sky is the limit for what can go underneath. Let's take a look at some inspiration for this quick Happy Hour.

Mom's small Japanese vase is covered with this 7" handblown cloche from IKEA ( $4.99). IKEA sells this cloche in two sizes and other styles with bases - all under $15.

Whatever you choose for your autumn cloche, it's guaranteed to bring the season inside. Around here, fall is in the air and our rooms have accents of fall colors. Yesterday, I asked P what he'd like for lunch. He looked around the room and said, "Something orange." Very funny. I made this Thai curry soup with coconut milk - orange - and comforting on an overcast day. Whatever the weather, have fun with your Happy Hour cloche!
