TWEAKS+inspiration : Decorator Showcases, 2025

I can't resist each year's designer showcases - every room decorated by a different designer in a historical mansion with proceeds going to a charity. The houses are crammed with decorating ideas. In Southern California, Muffy and I have gone to a handful of the the Pasadena Showcases House of Design. One year, we literally bumped into then-Govener Arnold Schwarzenegger. And over the years, Jayne and I have gone to even more of the San Francisco Decorator Showcases. Fortunately, photos are online for this year's showcases, so let's take a look.
Let's look at some practical "chore" rooms. In this year's Pasadena showcase, Noelle Djokovich of Gex Designs designed an amazing flower arranging room with latticework, botanical wallpaper and a green&gray diamond floor. I don't know anyone who has such a room but don't you love the colors?
Beatriz Rose of Beatriz Rose Design created a garden studio and washroom for the Pasadena Showcase with antique pieces and restored cabinetry. The curtained base cabinets are so old fashion - will that idea become new again?
"The Courtyard Room" by Emma Sims-Hilditch at the 2025 Wow!House in London, UK. There's a lot going on but it's a generous multiuse room. This room screams British with three different wallpapers.
One of my favorite rooms from a past Pasadena Showcase is this mudroom with a drop-leaf table and a pet spa by designer by Courtney Thomas Design. See the counter top of the washer and dryer? That's an idea I'm keeping.
"The Laundry" by designer Suzanne Skyes at the 2025 Lake Forest (IL) Showhouse & Gardens. Another wonderful tile floor. It seems every room is busy and filled with objects. Is this the style to come?
The 2025 Southeastern Designer Showcase (Atlanta) laundry room. Practical and pretty, wouldn't it be fun to turn a bedroom into such a room?

Meanwhile, I'm treating myself to this wood Laundry Countertop by Royxen to top my washer and dryer ($109 from Amazon + free shipping and returns!). I thought this space clever and useful in a corner of a primary bedroom -
perfect ceiling lights and the corner table. Such a corner would be practical in a laundry room, too.
