Color Game : Viva Magenta / 2023 Pantone Color of Year

Happy New Year! I'm hoping you're feeling as optimistic and hopeful as I am for 2023. After all, don't things have to get better? (I think I've been thinking that the last few years!) Speaking of the new year, Pantone is out with their 2023 Color of the Year. Pantone describes their annual choices as "color snapshots of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude. Look for the Color of the Year to influence fashion and home decor." As for me, I just think it's fun thinking of a new color. Let's take a look.

"Viva Magenta vibrates with vim and vigor. It's a shade rooted in nature and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative." And that's according to Pantone's website. Is that a lot to expect of a color?

So French!

Viva Magenta is a great accent for a front door.

I'm not sure this is exactly the tone of Viva Magenta, but all reddish pinks look great with blue and green.

Maybe Viva Magenta is best used as an accent color.

Love this magenta stove!

I do love this Scandi room. I'm not sure I'll follow the trend and use this color in my rooms but isn't it nice to see a fresh color? Here's to a colorful New Year!

We are having one big "atmospheric river." A lot of wind and rain. As I write this Saturday afternoon, our power is out. Thank heavens for Tesla power walls! Unfortunately, the wireless WIFI towers are feeling the effects of the storm so WIFI is super slow. Hopefully, this isn't an omen of things to come. Take care, cuddle up and Happy New Year!

Did you know? The Pantone Color System, or PMS, is a standardized color matching system, which is widely used around the world. It was devised to help printers and designers to specify and control colors for printing projects. The Pantone Color System allows you to specify colors that cannot be mixed in traditional CMYK. What is CMYK? CMYK is the color process utilizing four color bases : cyan, magenta, yellow and black. It is a color model that is used in color printing.
