Places We Go : Online Sales

Some of my favorite things are on sale this weekend. Some are just for fun like this blue garden seat ($89 at Ballard Designs). And some are splurges. Let's face it. Some creature comforts are worth the investment and when they're on sale, so much the better. These products last and last and last so if you put a pencil to it, they might even be less expensive in the long run. Let's take a look.

macy's.com

Macy's Hotel Sheet Collection

We all know it's not the thread count that really matters when it comes to sheets. Personally, I love 100% cotton percale sheets that feel like they've been out on the clothes line all day - so crisp they almost make a noise when you slide in between them. After a long search, I discovered the Hotel Sheet Collection at Macy's about 6 years ago.

After at least 350 washings, mine are still perfect. It takes about 5 washings to get them "seasoned" and then follow the washing instructions to ensure a long life. A queen set is usually $560 but right now they are on sale for $310. We've used for 6 years, so that's 14 cents a day if my math is correct. They have a 800-thread count and come in 7 colors.

frontgate.com

Frontage Resort Collection Cotton Towels

After looking for thick, luxurious towels for some time, I finally broke down and purchased these from Frontgate - all in white. We've had these for at least 5 years and they are still a pleasure. They come in 30 colors and are 100% long-staple Turkish cotton. A bath towel is on sale for $29.50 and you can have it monogramed for an additional $7. Follow the washing instructions to keep your towels fluffy and you won't be disappointed.

Ballard Design's Highgate Doormat

This is a decorative, practical rubber mat imported from India. It's heavy so it doesn't move and feels substantial underfoot. It comes in 3 sizes and we have two of the 30" at our front doors. That size is on sale for $15 (and a further 20% off this weekend) at Ballard Design. We've had them for almost 10 years and they still look brand new.

wayfair.com

Wayfair's Indoor Outdoor Rug

If you're in need of an outdoor rug, sales are everywhere on line. An rug under your patio table and chairs really ties your outdoor "room" together. These are great as you just hose down to clean. I particularly like this 7'10" x 10' rug from Wayfair (Benson Light Gray). On sale for $125 (including free shipping), what's not to love? I'm in the market for a new rug for our deck so I'll be shopping later today.

Good luck in finding some great deals this weekend.
