DecorBook Classic : Primary Bathroom Redo, Round 2

Do you ever complete a project and then think, "Oops!?" In 2022, Jesus and his crew did up my primary bathroom. After a few bubble baths, I realized I'd made a mistake as it was easy to splash water on the wall behind the tub. Since I had Jesus coming to do some other work, why not add some tile behind the tub? Let's take a look.

My inspiration photo. I would have loved to have a ledge but that would have added far more expense.

Two years ago would have been the time to tile the wall before the tub was installed.

Before I called Jesus, I checked to see if "my" marble was still in stock at Floor & Decor. It would have looked odd with another variation of marble. Luckily, it was still in stock - so game on.

I use tape a lot to visualize. Old school.

First, Jesus's crew did what he calls "protection" from the front door, through the entry, down the stairs, through a bedroom and into the bathroom. I was also having the electrician put in a sconce on the wall behind the sofa so that area got protected, too. Jesus and his crew also leaves the house meticulous.

For the wall, I needed about two dozen tiles (12x24) plus a few extras in case anything went wrong. We laid them out to make sure the marble tiles from Turkey looked OK side by side. At $12 per square foot, it's about as affordable as can be.

Jesus's team opened a two-year old wall to prepare for tile. The next day, Emilio started tiling. He had done the work in the bathroom two years ago.

On the 3rd day, Emilio grouted and sealed. Great job, Emilio!

Two mirrors from Home Depot are propped up against the wall at the end of the tub. They are acrylic so safe in earthquake country. The little brassy metal table came from Target.

I painted the sconce lamp shades pink and bought a 3x5 washable rug from Ruggables.

Jesus's team was here four and a half days. Besides tiling the bathroom wall, they painted my bedroom, installed a new sconce in living room, did a bunch of small to-dos and dismantled the bedroom fireplace surround.

Next week, Anthony comes to install a new gas fireplace insert followed by Jesus' crew for a few more projects including Emilio tiling a new surround. The tile is in the garage and I can hardly wait. I'll be back April 6th with an update. In the meantime, enjoy your Sundays!
