Happy Hour : Glam IKEA Hacks

Every been in a restaurant when it turns "Happy Hour?" You notice the mood instantly changes as everyone is ready for fun. Whenever I'm having a Bad Hair Day, my cure is always a personal Happy Hour. Of course, I'm hopeless addicted to interiors; so for me, this hour is all about decorating. In this series, we'll look at some quick and happy mood changers for our very own Happy Hour. Each should take about an hour - a mere 60 minutes - to perk up our minds and our rooms. Let's get the party started.

Last Sunday, we looked at glamorous rooms. This week, I'm proposing using a Happy Hour to add a bit of "glam" into one of your rooms. And what better way than to start with something from IKEA. Huh? It never occurred to me, but IKEA devotees are nothing if not super creative. Take these plain IKEA glass vases as an example. A dip of gold paint turns them into something really luxe. Let's take a look at some other inspiring projects.

Gold trim dresses up a basic IKEA chest of drawers. And every bedroom could use one or two of IKEA's sheepskin rugs ($14.99 each) for even more glam.

Marbleized contact paper and a gold toned drawer pull.

My favorite hack is a vanity stool made from the IKEA Marius stool ($4.99). We have the black metal "un-hacked" version on our patio. I had no idea that could be transformed into this sexy little stool.

Next time I'm at IKEA, I'll be letting my imagination run wild as a shop rather than concentrating on not forgetting the frozen Swedish pancakes. Speaking of which, wouldn't a dollop of caviar glam those up?
