Happy Hour : Hello, Front Door

Every been in a restaurant when it turns "Happy Hour?" You notice the mood instantly changes as everyone is ready for fun. Whenever I'm having a Bad Hair Day, my cure is always a personal Happy Hour. Of course, I'm hopeless addicted to interiors; so for me, this hour is all about decorating. In this series, we'll look at some quick and happy mood changers for our very own Happy Hour. Each should take about an hour - a mere 60 minutes - to perk up our minds and our rooms. Let's get the party started.

How's your front door looking? Maybe it's time for a quick, inexpensive re-do as there's nothing like a spectacular door color to grab attention, especially as the weather turns. And to literally welcome your guests, how about a door with a messager? Easily done with a removable decal, who wouldn't feel welcomed? A Happy Hour spent will reap many hours of enjoyment. As for a new paint color, let's look at some colorful inspiration.

While you might not go so far as to let in any stray cat, there's nothing like a welcoming front door. Dare to have fun. After all, it's only paint.

I must confess, our front door redo took a different turn. The wood facade had taken a real beating and was peeling - best left to a professional.

Oscar sanded, primed and painted but I did spend my Happy Hour picking out the color!
