I'm a big fan of Pinterest, so when Sally invited me to a Pinterest "event" at their San Francisco headquarters last weekend, I was all in.  She reserved us admission a few weeks prior to the event.  The event was a curated holiday bazaar with 38 San Francisco companies who advertise on Pinterest.

We got there an hour prior to their opening and we were first in line.  15 minutes later, there wer...

San Pablo Avenue might not be the go-to shopping mecca for some but I get a kick out of it.  From high-end outlets to a flea market filled with rust and disrepair, could a treasure hunt for your rooms be any better?  Only 7 miles long, from Oakland, CA thru Berkeley and points north, it's scattered with stores that are well worth visiting.  Let's take a look at three of my favorites.

Some of my favorite things are on sale this weekend.  Some are just for fun like this blue garden seat ($89 at Ballard Designs).  And some are splurges.  Let's face it.  Some creature comforts are worth the investment and when they're on sale, so much the better. Happy New Year!  Here's to having this extra holiday day, "New Year's Day Observed."  Thinking over the last two weeks, some adventures in San Francisco added to the holiday spirit.  Simple walks through hotel lobbies and stores just looking at decorations.  The city was magical with decorating treasures and some ideas for next year.  Unfortunately, I've no pictures of my adventure with Jayne on a very r...

Neighborhoods are a great place for design ideas and one of my favorites is Japantown in San Francisco. There's about 6 blocks filled with nooks and crannies - hardware, groceries, office supplies, noodles, Lolita fashion - it's all there.  Yesterday morning I was back and here's what I discovered.

Japantown's Peace Plaza under San Francisco's typical summer skies, foggy until early afternoon....
